Here's a ting about a rat!

Why is this man mopping the floor when he's supposed to be on vacation? Is he just doing normal housework? Does he have a clean-floor fetish? Maybe he needs a little manual labor to clear his head of business worries? None of the above? If you guessed 'none of the above' you are correct. Jim is mopping away because the washing machine sprang a leak and flooded the kitchen! Soapy water poured out into our kitchen and living room instead of washing our clothes. We madly took turns mopping up the water and screaming for life preservers. A room dehumidifier was employed to do the final dry job. So now we have a really clean floor. But our laundry is still dirty!
A trip to a local laundromat, which has a drop-off wash and fold service, is in order. An appliance repair man has been called. Of course he hasn't called back yet. It's de islands, after all. Bob did a little investigating of the washing machine. There is a large hole in a rubber attachment below the main tub. It looks like it was chewed. Can you say 'rat'? Yes, we have a friendly rodent living under our washer. But wait! We put out an electric rat trap and buzzzzzz. He got zapped. Now he is a dead, friendly rat! No more trouble in paradise. But Jim has dish-pan hands and a sore back!

De Gallery It be Open.

March 2, 2012. The art gallery opening was a big success.
Well OK, so it was a medium success.
Or maybe it was just interesting? Whatever. I had fun.
And I think everyone there did too as well. There was a pretty large crowd, so I'm told by the gallery owner who knows about such events. Lots of wine and munchies. After standing up schmoozing for three hours my feet hurt!  Some of our new island friends stopped by. Architect Rob Crane and his wife Mares. Captain Greg Freitas and his wife Barbara. Also I got to meet some of the gallery artists like Joan Farrenkopt. I had the pleasure of meeting Kat Sowa who is one of the islands most outstanding painters. Jim took all these photos. A little fuzzy, but he decided not to use a flash so he has an excuse! Or is he just fuzzy naturally? There was a nice write-up in the St. John Tradewinds newspaper before the event. The gallery owner tells me that he was very pleased with the turn-out. Now all I need is a few sales!
Crossed fingers!
